    Dear Geelong Blog

The National Trust of Victoria invites you to walk the pink carpet and examine the intersection between film, historic fashion and the social narrative of weddings at the Love, Desire & Riches Exhibition Launch at Barwon Park Mansion on Monday 15 December at 6.30pm.

At this exclusive preview, you will be the first to see a collection of famous wedding fashion before the exhibition opens to the public. Upon your arrival you will be treated to refreshments and canapés.

The exhibition will showcase over 50 gowns from leading fashion designers, film and television celebrities. Exquisite pieces on display include dresses designed for Jennifer Hawkins (Maticevski) and Kyly Clarke (Alex Perry) to film and television pieces worn by Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep.

Please RSVP to myself by Wednesday 10 December.

    Many thanks,

Saint Regis Winery is delighted to announce the opening of the Saint Regis Food & Wine Bar on Thursday 5 March 2015.

Owners, Katherine Anderson & Jack Nicol have created a beautiful relaxed convivial space that shares their passion for food and wine. Casually elegant, the Saint Regis Food & Wine Bar has been built to take in all aspects of the winery.

Katherine Turner, one of Geelong’s best young chefs has created a menu that is uncomplicated, fresh and delicious. The very best seasonal produce is sourced locally for a menu that reflects a love of good food.

Katherine will pickle their vegetables and make relishes and sauces. The sour dough was started from wild yeasts sourced from the vineyard.

Sharing dishes and single serve snacks are the perfect complement to Saint Regis wines. They will also be offering a full local wine list to showcase the Geelong Region.

Saint Regis will practice good waste management, recycling and compositing. Vegetable waste is taken to a local animal sanctuary.

‘We decided to start the Food and Wine Bar when we were given the opportunity by Viv and Pete Nicol to join and expand the family business,’ says Katherine Anderson. ‘We had been talking about the potential for the vineyard for years – being so beautiful and close to Geelong.

Both of us are very passionate about local food and wine, and minimal impact, as well as promoting the Geelong region we grew up in and love.

Pete built the entire building, from laying the concrete slab, putting up the framework, the beautiful wooden ceiling to fitting out the kitchen, with help from family, friends and local trades. We got the reclaimed brick bar laid, recycled the most beautiful piece of cypress pine for the bar top and have art from local artist Keren Zorn.’

Local chef Katherine Turner has worked in Geelong in many of its best eateries. She started her apprenticeship at Barking Dog and completed it at Gladioli. She worked at Tulip until starting out on this new venture with her two friends.

Saint Regis Vineyard and Winery is situated on the rolling hills beside the Geelong bypass at Waurn Ponds, Geelong in southern Victoria. Saint Regis is family owned and operated, specialising in Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All wines are made and bottled at the winery on the vineyard by winemaker Peter Nicol. The Shiraz fruit is estate grown, while the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are selected from hand-picked premium local fruit. All wines are fermented with varying use of wild yeast and are matured in French oak.

Saint Regis Food & Wine Bar, 35 Waurn Ponds Drive, Waurn Ponds. Opening hours: Thursday – Sunday, 11am-3pm; Thursday – Saturday, 5.30pm – late. Snacks, desserts and drinks available all day. https://www.facebook.com/saintregiswinery
